Service-oriented employees for Nyäng's new recycling center
The Technical Division in Nyköping Municipality consists of five business areas: Streets/Parks/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Municipal Properties, and Meal Service. These are supported by a project unit, an economic unit, and an administrative staff. The division has an annual turnover of approximately 1.5 billion SEK, active investments of around 2 billion SEK, and employs over 400 permanent staff. Our clients are the Municipal Executive Board, the Environment and Urban Planning Committee, and the Culture and Leisure Committee.
The Service Unit is the newest addition to the Technical Division, focusing on sustainability, service, and the development of individuals in labor market initiatives. The unit is responsible for the reuse of furniture, bicycle service and repair, internal service, and certain maintenance tasks, primarily within park management. The unit will also be responsible for the new recycling center Nyäng, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The goal is to advance the municipality's sustainability efforts and achieve ecological, social, and economic sustainable societal development in accordance with Agenda 2030.
The Service Unit is now seeking 1–3 service-oriented and engaged employees for the new recycling center Nyäng. We are looking for you who want to help and guide our customers so that we can jointly achieve the goals of increased sorting rates and reduced waste volumes.

Job Responsibilities
As an employee at the recycling center, you work with service, operations, and environmental management. The role is varied and combines customer contact with practical work. An important part of the job is to guide customers on how to sort their waste and to contribute to keeping the facility clean and well-maintained.
The work is primarily outdoors and takes place according to a schedule, which means working evenings and weekends.
At the recycling center, private individuals and companies can leave waste that does not constitute household waste. The waste is sorted into different fractions at the facility. Customer interaction is a central part of the work, as is creating good conditions to make it easy and convenient for customers to sort correctly.
The operations face several important development areas, including commissioning the new center, developing and increasing collection for reuse, and ensuring environmentally safe and correct handling of hazardous waste.
As an employee at the Nyäng recycling center, you will have the opportunity to be involved from the start and contribute to the construction of a new facility, while making a real difference for both people and the environment.
Qualifications and Merits
You who apply must have:
- Upper secondary education, preferably with a technical, environmental, or social focus.
- Basic computer skills.
- Category B driver's license.
- Front-end loader license.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Previous experience from service, customer interaction, and some practical work (e.g., work at a recycling center, warehouse, logistics, industry, or operations/maintenance of facilities).
- Interest/knowledge regarding waste sorting, material handling, recycling, and reuse.
- Interest/knowledge about handling hazardous waste (HA) and relevant legislation.
- Experience in meeting and guiding customers/visitors.
- Experience in handling conflicts or other difficult customer situations.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.

Employment Conditions
- Type of employment: Permanent position.
- Start date: November 2, 2026, or as agreed.
- Working hours: The role includes responsibility during the recycling center's opening hours, which implies daytime work as well as scheduled evening and weekend shifts.
